6W Adapters Comply with Medical Safety Requirements

October 14, 2013 by Jeff Shepard

Mean Well Enterprise Co., Ltd. has introduced the 6W medical adaptor, the GSM06 series to satisfy the lower-wattage power supply requirements of the medical applications. Complying with international medical safety regulations (2*MOPP level), these models also possess extremely low leakage current (≤50 µA) and low no load power consumption (<0.3W), which can fulfill the high-quality demands of “patient contact” medical applications. The whole series complies with the latest energy-saving regulations (level V), such as ErP step 2 of European Union and EISA 2007 (Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007) of USA. Thus, they can reach the energy-saving purpose at both standby and operating mode.

The new wall-mounted type single output medical adaptors feature with 85-264Vac full range input, provide 5- to 24-Vdc output voltage options, and operate with 82% efficiency. Both the USA plug design for GSM06U and the EU plug design for GSM06E use only 2 pins. Both are Class II power units (no grounding pin needed) and enclosed by UL 94V-0 rated plastic case, which can effectively prevent users from electrical shock. Other standard functions include short circuit, overload, and over voltage protections. Furthermore, GSM06U acquired global safety certificates per UL, CUL, CB, FCC, while GSM06E acquired TUV, CB, CE certificates.
