425W AC-DC with Superior EMC/EMI Compliance, RF and Surge Immunity

May 28, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

SL Power Electronics, a division of SL Industries, today announced its 425-W, single-output TU425 Series ac-dc power supplies. This latest offering from SL Power addresses the unique needs of all types of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, analyzers, test boards, chromatography mass detectors as well as industrial process control systems that require clean, reliable power for the highest level of performance. Feature rich with up to 90 percent efficiency, the TU425 product family includes active current share for redundant applications and measures 3" x 6.2" x 1.62", easily fitting into a 1U-high chassis. These power supplies are rated for 300W under convection cooling and up to 425W with forced-air cooling.

Designed with the highest level of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) protection, the TU425 model features a wide -10 to 70 degrees C operating temperature range and will start-up at a low -40 degrees C, providing optimum thermal performance and eliminating the need for a costly heating element. Output power derates linearly above 50 degrees C to 50% at 70 degrees C. Compliant to heavy industrial levels of the IEC61000-4 standards for EMC immunity and Class B Conducted EMI with 6db margin, the TU425 power supply features over 350,000 hours MTBF and uses long life (>7 years) electrolytic capacitors in its design.

“We’re pleased to introduce our new TU425 power supply family that addresses problematic EMI and EMC issues that can wreak havoc with the performance of test equipment and industrial process control systems,” said Paul Kingsepp, product manager for SL Power Electronics. “Design engineers will appreciate the reduction of time needed on isolating the ‘measurement’ part of their design from external influences. The TU425 AC/DC power supply gives our customers peace of mind when designing their test and industrial equipment, allowing them to get to market faster.”

The new models feature a universal input of 90- to 264-Vac and are available in outputs of 12V, 18V, 24V, 48V and 56V. Input and output monitoring alarms plus isolated 12V/1A fan output and 5V/2A standby voltage are standard offerings of TU425 family. All models are CE marked to low voltage directive and approved to ITE standards of IEC/UL/EN60950 and CSA C22.2, 2nd edition. Featuring a three-year warranty, the TU245 models are available now through SL Power’s extensive distribution sales channels. Pricing starts at $155 each in OEM quantities.
