28V 16-Channel Solid-State Power Controller Handles 250A

New Products Jul 28, 2013 by Jeff Shepard

Data Device Corporation (DDC) introduces a new 16-channel, Line Replaceable Module (LRM) Solid-State Power Controller. The RP-26231000N1 provides a total continuous current output of 250A, and includes 16 channels with 10A and 25A maximum capacities. The card is packaged in a VITA 48/REDI (Ruggedized Enhanced Design Implementation) compatible form factor that enables cost-effective, two level maintenance (2LM) operations, along with fast and easy field replacement in deployed vehicles, minimizing downtime and service costs.

As the world’s largest supplier of Solid-State Power Controllers (SSPCs), based on more than 500,000 nodes delivered and currently in-use, DDC was the first to offer commercial and fully-qualified MIL-PRF-38534 and Class K Space-level screening for SSPC products. DDC supplies Field-Proven, High-Reliability SSPCs for the Bradley Fighting Vehicles and the M1A2 tank, and is now entering the aerospace market with new light-weight products.

DDC’s SSPCs support real-time digital status reporting and computer control, and are equipped with instant trip, and true I²T wire protection. Custom SSPC modules are available that are rated up to 300A continuous, and multi-channel boards that are rated up to 25A continuous per channel. Multi-channel boards using this technology are excellent cost effective solutions, as the price per channel is significantly reduced. Included in the SSPC product line are 270Vdc units with current ratings of 2A through 15A, 28Vdc units from 1A through 80A, and 115Vac units.

“The RP-26231000N1 is optimized to supply reliable and smart power control under adverse environmental conditions, while providing superior heat dissipation and VITA 48/REDI compatibility to minimize maintenance costs and extend mission effectiveness”, stated Steve Rood Goldman, DDC’s Marketing Manager.
