150°C Conductive Polymer Hybrid Capacitors suit Automotive Uses

Panasonic Industry Europe is expanding its conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitor range with its new ZF series products, rated at 1,000 hours at 150°C, enabling devices to support cutting-edge power train and engine-mounted applications in the automotive sector. Besides the high temperature rating, ZF Series hybrid capacitors are the first available in Through Hole Technology.

Hybrid capacitors are one of the most promising solutions for high-endurance and high-performance application that also require miniaturization. The conductive polymer hybrid enables stable and very low ESR across the full temperature range of -55°C up to +150°C. Ripple currents in the order of 1Arms can be dealt with at peak voltage and temperature while maintaining ESR as low as 20mΩ.

The ripple current capability, as well as the lifetime of the capacitor, increases as temperature reduces, as indicated on datasheet. This makes ZF an excellent choice for specialized applications that experience a broad mission profile in terms of applied ripple and ambient temperatures.

Furthermore, a rated voltage from 25Vdc to 63Vdc and a capacitance range from 30μF up to 270μF, enable the ZF Series capacitors to cater to both 12V and 48V systems. Like all hybrids, ZF Series devices are fully RoHS-compliant and AECQ-200-compliant.

Mustafa Khan, Product Marketing Manager Capacitors at Panasonic comments: "Hybrid capacitors represent one of the fastest growing component segments in Europe and the introduction of a THT-type at the highest temperature possible in the electrolytic world ensures that Panasonic can cater even to niche demands in automotive and industrial."
