November 20, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (Camarillo, CA) has announced the appointment of Chris Gardner as vice president and chief operating officer, reporting to Lou Tomasetta, president and CEO. As COO, Gardner will be responsible for the management of Vitesse's five business divisions and manufacturing.

“It is rare that a company can promote a person to chief operating officer that has the wealth of experience that Chris brings to this position," stated Tomasetta. “With Vitesse's growth over the past six years, we felt it essential to ensure a continued management focus on all details required to execute our aggressive product strategy."

Gardner joined Vitesse in 1986 as a process engineer. Subsequently, he managed the product engineering group and the ASIC marketing group, and for the past four years he has been vice president and general manager of various product divisions, most recently the Telecom Division.
