Sirenza Microdevices Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA), a designer and supplier of high-performance, radio-frequency (RF) components for communications equipment manufacturers, announced the recent award of US patent # 6, 504, 429 entitled "Wide Dynamic Range Transimpedance Amplifier." The newly awarded patent broadens the scope of a previously awarded patent issued last year.

This is Sirenza's fourth US patent awarded in the area of fiber optic amplifier ICs and discloses an approach for improving the dynamic range of fiber optic receivers. The new patent and similar innovative approaches have been integrated in Sirenza's line of 10Gb/s and 40Gb/s transimpedance amplifier products.

Joe Johnson, chief technical officer, states, "This patent adds breadth to our company's intellectual property base and demonstrates our commitment to becoming a leading supplier of very linear, wide dynamic range, front-end components. We will continue to invest in advanced product development and in our IP portfolio to better position us for present and future markets."
