Silicon Laboratories, Analog Devices and 3Com Settle Lawsuit

January 03, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Silicon Laboratories Inc. (Austin, TX), Analog Devices (Wilmington, MA) and 3Com Corp. (Santa Clara, CA) announced that they have settled the lawsuit originally filed by Silicon Laboratories on January 12, 2000, in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas (Austin Division). The settlement terms are confidential.

The suit alleged misappropriation of trade secrets and patent infringement by Analog Devices. The allegations regarded technology relating to Silicon Laboratories' patented silicon Direct Access Arrangement (DAA) solutions. Silicon Laboratories believed that the Analog Devices silicon DAA products were developed using misappropriated confidential information, know-how and trade secrets of Silicon Laboratories, and infringed upon Silicon Laboratories' issued patent. Silicon Laboratories sought an injunction to stop the sale of these products.
