SatCon Announces Contract for Energy Storage and Delivery System; Membership in Green Grid

SatCon Technology Corp.® announced that its Applied Technology division has been awarded an additional $2.5 million contract with a California customer for the next phase of pulse power equipment capable of providing 8.8MW of power for several seconds. The total system will have pulse power capabilities in excess of 18MW. Delivery of the first stage is scheduled for June 2007 and the new Stage 2 delivery is scheduled for October 2007. The pulse power application is an adaptation of SatCon’s high power electronics and flywheel energy storage products.

The award expands on SatCon’s portfolio of power electronics products with the development of an integrated pulse power energy storage system. The technology is claimed to have direct applicability to both civilian and government customers.

SatCon also announced that it has recently joined The Green Grid as a contributing member. The Green Grid is a consortium of information technology companies and professionals seeking to lower the overall consumption of power usage in data centers around the globe.
