Dr. Ridley combines the teaching of theoretical and practical concepts, and hands-on experience with the latest high-tech design software and laboratory instruments. This year, there is an expanded laboratory section in the workshops. Attendees are free to choose from 5 power circuits in the afternoon session in order to tailor the lab to match their needs at work and their personal experience level. These circuits include: Buck, Boost, Sepic (including coupled inductors), Flyback, and Forward.
Mornings are steeped in theory, design ideas, control schemes and magnetics applications. Afternoons are spent in the lab exploring and applying concepts, winding custom inductors and transformers, building and testing control circuits, and optimizing designs. Only 30 engineers are accepted, creating a small group environment with maximum assistance in the lab from two seasoned instructors and state-of-the-art equipment.
