September 26, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

PowerDsine Ltd. announced an agreement with Anixter India, which will be a distributor for its complete range of Power over Ethernet (PoE) Midspan products to enterprise customers in India. Anixter will help PowerDsine provide optimum service to its customers while enabling the company to further grow its Indian customer base and generate new business opportunities in the growing market for PoE technology. Under this distribution agreement, Anixter will offer PowerDsine's Midspan products across India while PowerDsine will provide training and technical support to Anixter and each of their channel partners and system integrators.

Vikas Pinjarkar, India Country Manager for PowerDsine said, "PowerDsine has many strategic customers and partners throughout the world, and we look forward to expanding our market presence in India through this partnership with Anixter. Recognized as the world's largest distributor of electrical and electronic wire and cable devices, we are confident that Anixter has the ability to help us convince potential customers in India of the benefits of Power over Ethernet technology and to help PowerDsine grow its business in the Indian market as it continues to mature."

Kannan Rangamani, Country Manager, Anixter India said, "Power over Ethernet technology is growing rapidly in India, with the deployment of IP-based devices in almost all verticals. PowerDsine offers a complete range of Power over Ethernet injectors and midspans, and we are pleased to have been selected as a distributor for these key PowerDsine products. We expect to leverage our existing distribution network infrastructure in India to provide superior customer service, support and product availability."

PowerDsine's IEEE 802.3af standard compliant 6500 and 3000 PoE Midspan families, as well as the 6000G (Gigabit) and 8000 (High Power) Midspans offer a highly cost-effective and reliable means for upgrading the network to PoE without replacing existing Ethernet switches. PowerDsine's PoE Midspan products offer a number of advantages. A single Cat 5 cable provides both data and power eliminating the need for a separate wire to power the end devices. Wireless LAN APs and security cameras can be installed without the additional expense of contracting an electrician to install ac outlets where deployed. It further gives the option to install in places where performance is optimum and not tethered to an existing ac outlet. This is especially vital for devices like Wireless LAN APs, which may be installed in hard to reach places like the ceiling in order to achieve the broadest coverage.
