PowerCache (San Diego, CA), a part of Maxwell Technologies’ (San Diego, CA) electronic components group, announced that it has received a purchase order from Oshkosh Truck Corp. (Oshkosh, WI) to supply high-capacity 2,700F PowerCache ultracapacitors for energy storage and power delivery in a concept vehicle for the US Army that is powered by Oshkosh’s ProPulse hybrid-electric drive system. Oshkosh is building the HEMTT LMS concept vehicle under a contract with the US Army’s National Automotive Center and the Tank Automotive and Armaments Command. The ProPulse hybrid-electric drive system is designed to reduce vehicle-operating, support and life-cycle costs.

“We selected Maxwell’s PowerCache ultracapacitors for this concept vehicle because of their performance, reliability and production availability,” said Chris Yakes, senior project engineer.
