Pentadyne Power Enters Agreement with EUS

March 28, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Pentadyne Power Corp. (Chatsworth, CA), a developer of flywheel power systems for power quality, distributed power and power recycling applications, entered into a distribution agreement with EUS GmbH (Dortmund, Germany) to deliver two of its new Voltage Support Solution™ (VSS 120) flywheel power systems to be used in parallel with uninterruptible power supply and microturbine applications.

Both projects are being financed by the local German government of North Rhine-Westphalia and the European Union. Pentadyne and EUS also entered into a value-added reseller agreement for distributing the Pentadyne VSS products in Germany. In the second quarter of 2004, Pentadyne will install a VSS 120 unit in Germany to demonstrate how the flywheel power system can replace batteries in a uninterruptible power supply unit to improve reliability and costs associated with short battery life spans.

"Our agreement with EUS enables Pentadyne to show how our flywheel power system can provide a cost-effective alternative to batteries in uninterruptible power supplies as well as provide effective ride-through in distributed generation applications," stated Pentadyne Power CEO Paul Craig. "We are excited to combine efforts with EUS in Germany, which will in turn demonstrate our product’s viability in the worldwide power quality market."
