Optek Re-Enters the High-Reliability Market

July 25, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

TT electronics plc (Boone, NC) subsidiary Optek Technology Inc. (Carrollton, TX) recently announced its re-entry into the high-reliability (Hi-Rel) market for hall-effect, magneto-resistive and optoelectronic components. OPTEK has the ability to transform standard commercial devices into Hi-Rel products, capable of withstanding severe levels of mechanical, environmental and electrical stress within harsh military and space applications.

"Due to multiple requests from our customers, we made the decision to return to the Hi-Rel business," explained OPTEK Engineering Manager Steve Coble. "The US government has issued a directive for the use of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products and OPTEK feels that the elimination of the joint Army-Navy standard is the proper direction for the industry. Our ability to convert COTS products from standard commercial processes exhibits the high quality built into all OPTEK devices."
