OKI Establishes OKI Electric America

October 07, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. announced that it has established a company in North America, effective October 1, 2008, for the purpose of coordinating OKI’s U.S. businesses. The new company, OKI Electric America Inc., will conduct marketing and sales activities for its info-telecom business and other group businesses including sensor devices, printed circuits, cables, and power supplies. With the two companies, OKI plans to increase business activities in the North and South American markets.

"We are establishing OKI Electric America after the restructuring of our U.S. subsidiaries which accompanied the spin-off and share transfer of OKI’s semiconductor business," said Masashi Tsuboi, General Manager of Global Business Division at OKI. "The new company will develop new markets for the OKI Group businesses and info-telecom businesses such as biometric embedded software. Through these activities, OKI Electric America will organize its business base in North America and contribute in expanding OKI’s overseas business."
