O2Micro Granted Adaptive LCD Power Supply Circuit Patent

O2Micro International Ltd. (George Town, Grand Cayman), a supplier of power management and security ICs to mobile computer and communications manufacturers, received 27 claims under United States patent number 6,873,322 for its Adaptive LCD Power Supply Circuit invention.

The patented invention is designed to provide designers of portable electronic devices a way to use a single dc-dc converter to power the LED backlight of a LCD panel as well as other system components. The invention provides a way to build a power supply that adapts to varying input and output system power requirements, thereby saving circuit space, increasing efficiency and extending battery life in portable electronic devices.
