NEMA Releases Distribution Transformers Guide

October 28, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA, Rosslyn, VA) announced the release of its TP 1-2002 Guide for Determining Energy Efficiency for Distribution Transformers, which is intended for use as a basis for determining the energy efficiency performance of, and to assist in, the proper selection of distribution transformers.

The new guide covers single-phase and three-phase dry-type and liquid-filled distribution transformers 34.5kV and below and 600V and below. The guide offers a simplified methodology so users can determine the economic value of electrical losses over the useful life of a transformer. It also contains energy-efficiency tables for both liquid-filled and dry-type distribution transformers.

The TP 1-2002 guide is priced at $41 and may be purchased by contacting Global Engineering Documents at (800) 854-7179 (within the US), (303) 397-7956 (international), (303) 397-2740 (fax), or on the Internet at http://www.global.ihs.com.
