NEC Names Two Executive Management Successors

NEC Electronics America Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) announced the expanded responsibilities of Gabe Kim, Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, and the appointment of Jim Trent to the position of General Manager of the Automotive Strategic Business Unit. Both positions report directly to Toshio Nakajima, President and Chief Executive Officer of NEC Electronics America.

Kim succeeds Susumu Sato, former Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, who returned to NEC Electronics Corp. (Japan) for an executive assignment in the manufacturing operations unit. As Vice President of Manufacturing Operations for NEC Electronics America, Kim's expanded responsibilities include management of all phases of the company's semiconductor fabrication operations in Roseville, CA, which provide the manufacturing of automotive and custom semiconductor products for the North American market.

Leading NEC Electronics America's Automotive Strategic Business Unit, Trent succeeds Yukio Kabeya, who also returned to NEC Electronics. As General Manager for NEC Electronics America's Automotive Strategic Business Unit, Trent will have full responsibility for the company's North and South American automotive business including marketing, sales, applications, quality, design engineering and production planning.
