NEC Electronics Announces Name Change

NEC Electronics Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) announced that it has changed its name to NEC Electronics America Inc. as part of the launch of its parent company, NEC Electronics Corp., which has become the new semiconductor business that will specialize in semiconductor products encompassing advanced technology solutions for the broadband and communications markets; system solutions for the mobile, PC, automotive and digital consumer markets; and platform solutions for a wide range of customer applications.

Toshio Nakajima, formerly president and CEO of NEC Electronics, will also serve as president and CEO of NEC Electronics America. "This is a very exciting time for NEC Electronics America," said Nakajima. "Moving forward, our customers will benefit from faster decision-making, more focused product and solutions development, and greater ability to anticipate and meet their requirements. In addition, we will continue to have a strong presence in the non-PC and industrial LCD and PDP markets."
