LTC Establishes Outsourcing with Ultralife Batteries

July 17, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Lithium Technology Corp. (LTC, Plymouth Meeting, PA) announced that it has issued a purchase order to Ultralife Batteries Inc. (Newark, NY) for electrode coating and cell-assembly operations in order to meet the growing demand for LTC’s large footprint, flat, lithium-ion cells. The purchase order covers the period from July to December 2002.

LTC or GAIA Akkumulatorenwerke GmbH (Nordhausen, Germany), the company's lithium-ion polymer battery partner, will assemble the large footprint cells into stacks that will initially be used in prototype batteries for a variety of applications, including 42V and hybrid-electric vehicle batteries for automobiles and commercial truck/bus fleets; custom batteries for underwater, airborne and remote-control vehicles; and stationary distributed power systems for telecommunications and solar-electric infrastructures.
