August 26, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

IFX Power plc (UK) acquired the business and certain assets of Switching Systems International (SSI, Anaheim, CA). SSI will merge with XPiQ Inc. (Holliston, MA), who is a wholly owned subsidiary of power conversion products manufacturer IFX Power. SSI designs proprietary, configurable power supplies from 150W to 1,000W and provides value-added power solutions based on its standard modular product offering.

XPiQ Vice President Frank Rene commented, "This acquisition is in line with our strategic direction to strengthen our position as the leading provider of power solutions to the mid-tier market. It will allow us to expand our design engineering capabilities and to accelerate our development of technology-leading power solutions."

SSI Director of Finance Bob Lancaster added, "This strategic move provides an outstanding opportunity for the broader distribution of our leading-edge power solutions to North American customers, by leveraging the sales and distribution infrastructure in the IFX group. We are very excited about joining the dynamic IFX Power group and look forward to providing a positive contribution to XPiQ technology in the mid-tier power market."
