January 01, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

General Motors Corp. (GM, Detroit, MI) announced plans to sell one million cars, pickups and sport-utility vehicles powered by gas/electric hybrid engines by mid-decade. However, technological stumbling blocks and competitive pressures have forced GM to rethink its plans.
