FPL Energy Enhances Wind Energy Portfolio

FPL Energy LLC (Juno Beach, FL), a subsidiary of FPL Group Inc., announced that it is in the process of adding approximately 600MW to its existing wind energy portfolio through the addition of new facilities in New Mexico, California, Iowa, West Virginia and the Dakotas.

The new energy centers include the 204MW New Mexico Wind Energy Center, the 150MW High Winds Energy Center located in northern California, the 40MW North Dakota Wind Energy Center and the 40MW South Dakota Wind Energy Center in the Dakotas, the 98MW Hancock County Wind Energy Center located in northern Iowa, and the 66MW Mountaineer Wind Energy Center in northern West Virginia.

"Today's announcement signifies further progress on our strategy to profitably expand our generation portfolio through the addition of wind power facilities. We will continue to look for opportunities to expand our wind portfolio to meet the growing demand for clean, renewable energy across the country," said Jim Robo, president of FPL Energy.
