News Feb 09, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

FirstEnergy Corp. (Akron, OH) announced that its competitive subsidiary, FirstEnergy Solutions, has entered into a 20-year agreement to purchase the output of a new, 65 MW wind generation farm being developed in Somerset, PA, by Generation Resources Holding Company (GRHC, Leawood, KS), a developer of renewable wind energy projects.

The project, Stonycreek WindPower, features 36, 1.8 MW turbines. It is expected to generate approximately 180,000 MW/h annually. Stonycreek is expected to be operating by December 2004. The power purchase agreement is contingent upon extension of the Production Tax Credit and completion of financing for the project.
