June 26, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

The HomePlug® Alliance along with the China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR) of MIIT have announced that HomePlug products from new HomePlug member company, Fujian JinQianMao, have passed the required testing to meet the CQC Certification. This is the first time that powerline networking products have achieved the CQC Certification requirements making HomePlug products uniquely, "ready-for-retail" in China. The announcement was made at a jointly-hosted seminar in Beijing on 10 June 2014 which highlighted the ability to use HomePlug technologies to improve home networking performance for broadband media devices, as well as enable the smart home or Internet of Things (IoT). Presentations were given by China Telecom Fujian, CATR, Fujian JinQianMao and the HomePlug Alliance.

Also at the event, HomePlug provided a live demonstration showcasing the interoperability between some of the latest, next generation HomePlug AV2 products with best-selling HomePlug AV retail products. HomePlug AV2 products are available now at retailers worldwide and are ready for use by service providers to enable next generation connectivity for IPTV and other broadband services for their customers.

“Achieving CQC Certification is a critical step to enable widespread retail availability of HomePlug Products in China as well as provide Service Providers with confidence that HomePlug technology meets the country’s safety requirements,” said Rob Ranck, HomePlug Alliance President.

“CATR is excited to be working with the HomePlug Alliance to ensure HomePlug products meet the requirements of the CQC certification, said Songdong LV, , of CATR of MIIT. “We are happy to be bringing HomePlug’s home networking technologies to many more Chinese homes, as well as greatly expanding the ability for OEMs and carriers to sell and distribute their products in China.”
