Firefly Energy New World Headquarters Ready for Business

August 17, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Firefly Energy Inc. officially opened its new 40,000-square-foot world headquarters in Peoria, Illinois.

"This new building is a further example of Firefly’s continued progress in creating next generation energy storage technology for the United States," said Firefly CEO Ed Williams. "With the majority of advanced battery technology and manufacturing currently based in the Far East, we are convinced that next generation high performance batteries can be designed and produced here in the U.S."

Firefly is developing a portfolio of next-generation battery technologies. The first commercial products for trucking and military applications are targeted to ship early next year. In June, the company announced that it completed a $15 million Series C equity round of financing led by a strategic group of leading Clean-Tech investors. In addition, Firefly has continued to earn financial support from government agencies ranging from the federal to the local level.

"A key part of our success to-date comes from the strong support of leaders at the federal, state, county, and city levels," Williams said. "We’re proud of this relationship, their support, and the resulting economic impact on the community."

The new Firefly facility will house the company’s nearly 50 employees, including those involved in administration, manufacturing, and research and development.
