Fairchild Denies Infringement in Power Integrations Suit

October 27, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc. (South Portland, ME) announced that it does not believe its products violate Power Integrations Inc.'s (San Jose, CA) patents. Power Integrations stated that it has filed a patent infringement suit against Fairchild, which stated that certain integrated circuits produced by Fairchild infringe upon patents owned by Power Integrations. The company is seeking damages as well as an injunction prohibiting Fairchild's sale of the infringing integrated circuits.

"Our analysis of the claims in Power Integrations' patents indicates that we do not violate these patents," said Fairchild's Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing Tom Beaver. "We will continue to aggressively develop, produce, sell and support our Fairchild Power Switch integrated circuit products, and we will vigorously contest Power Integrations' groundless claims."
