Emerson to Power Protect HQ2 London Office Complex

June 26, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Emerson (St. Louis, MO) has been awarded a major contract to "power protect" a new 30-story office building in the heart of London's Canary Wharf business district. The electrical power protection system will provide the new Heron Quays 2 (HQ2) office building with state-of-the-art power reliability. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Emerson will provide precision air conditioning for heat-sensitive network equipment, uninterruptible power supply systems, battery backup and automatic transfer switches to fully synchronize electrical power throughout HQ2 to virtually eliminate the possibility of a power interruption.

"Power outages are not an option for investment companies like Lehman Brothers that depend heavily on their telecommunications and data networks," said Emerson President James Berges. "Emerson's contract for London's HQ2 high-rise demonstrates the global reputation it has built for providing reliable power. By bringing engineering and technology together to create solutions, Emerson provides both the products and services that get a critical job like this done."
