February 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

The eighth annual Drives and Controls Exhibition and Conference will take

place from March 13 to 15, 2001. Having outgrown its previous venue in Telford, UK, the conference is scheduled to be held at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre in London's docklands.

This conference, the UK's largest and only dedicated motion engineering event, will cover drives and controls. Focus will be on the technologies of power transmission, motion control, power electronics and fluid power. Almost 100 papers by an international panel of engineers and academics will be given in the course of nine conference sessions. As in previous years, the British Gear Association will run its annual congress as one of the nine sessions. Some of the other topics being featured include electric motor drives, precision motion, power electronics, and sensors and control.

Keynote speakers will include international specialists from areas such as

power transmission, fluid power, automation and semiconductors. Companies and academic institutions from the UK, Germany, Belgium, Japan, Israel, India, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Greece, Sweden and the USA will be

represented.

Simultaneous with the conference will be two other events, one on Hydraulics and

Pneumatics and another exposition dedicated to power electronics. Record numbers of

visitors are expected, with total exhibitors numbering nearly 140.
