ECD President and CEO - Recipient of Solar Energy Medal of Merit

Energy Conversion Devices (ECD, Troy, MI) President and CEO Stanford Ovshinsky has been chosen as the 1999 recipient of the Karl W.Bohr Solar Energy Medal of Merit. The medal was awarded jointly by the University of Delaware and the International Solar Energy Society "to honor significant pioneering to advance and promote the global use of solar energy." He is the fourth recipient of the award. Ovshinsky was honored for pioneering the science of amorphous semiconductors resulting in the development of low-cost thin-film silicon solar cells for the conversion of sunlight into electricity.
