June 04, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Desay Power Technology Co. Ltd. (China) has received an invention patent and two application patents from the State Intellectual Property Office of the China. The patents relate to the company's research on lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries and polymer Li-Ion battery micro-protection circuits used in mobile phones and PDAs.

According to Desay, one of the patents entitled "Circuit to Test Negative Temperature Coefficient Thermist," has solved the problem of inaccurate testing dates brought about by external factors, through employing a simple and compact battery circuit that is said to have reduced costs.

The second patent, "Li-Ion Battery Core Protection Circuit," is capable of providing over-charge, over-current and failure protection that is claimed to ensure high reliability and stability. Lastly, the "Battery Output Voltage DC/DC Booster Circuit" patent can continuously regulate the output voltage within a certain range.
