February 14, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Cadence Design Systems Inc. (San Jose, CA) and Agilent Technologies Inc. (Palo Alto, CA) announced a multi-year technology alliance that is expected to accelerate electronic product development in the communications industry. Through this alliance, the industry leaders in electronic and radio-frequency (RF) design expect to develop and market complete integrated solutions to speed the design of ICs for the wireless and wireline communications industries.

"This is the beginning of an alliance with Agilent, with its best-in-class RF technology for electronics design, that will produce superior solutions to accelerate time-to-market for customers," said Ray Bingham, president and CEO of Cadence. "By pooling the expertise and resources of two industry leaders, we can deliver even greater value to our mutual customers."

"Cadence is clearly the industry standard in analog/mixed-signal IC design," said Ned Barnholt, president and CEO of Agilent. "Working together on further integrating our electronic design solutions will provide a win for our customers within a reasonably short time frame."
