Brunton’s Flexible PV Panels Deliver up to 14W

December 15, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

SolarRolls from Brunton Inc. are now available in three wattages. The largest member of this family of flexible photovoltaic panels measures 12 by 57 inches, weighs 17 ounces and produces 14W (15.4 Volts / 900 mA) of power. It can be used for applications such as running satellite phones or charging laptop computers.

Waterproof SolarRolls are produced using amorphous solar cells for effective low-light performance and Tefzel® fluoropolymer construction for extreme durability. Multiple units with the same power rating can be linked together for increased power. When not in use, these PV panels roll up and can be stored in a protective tube.

The 9W SolarRoll measures 12 by 40 inches, weighs 10.6 ounces and produces 15.4V at 600 mA. It is designed for running cell phones and charging digital and video cameras.

The smallest unit produces 4.5W, measures 12 by 22 inches and weighs 6.4 ounces. It's output of 15.4V at 300 mA can be used for charging small portable devices such as mobile phone handsets and PDAs.

Suggested retail prices are $399, $279 and $169, for the 14W, 9W and 4.5W units, respectively.
