AVX Factories Obtain ISO Certifications

March 16, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, SC) has received ISO/TS16949 and ISO 9001:2000 certification for manufacturing facilities in San Bartolo, El Salvador, and Lanskroun, Czech Republic. The certifications indicate that the facilities have met all requirements of the ISO/TS16949 and ISO9001 international standards for the design, development, production, installation and servicing of automotive-related products.

AVX underwent thorough inspection of its automotive manufacturing facilities and supply chain to ensure eligibility criteria were met. The certifications mean a reduction in multiple third-party registrations freeing up time and supplier resources for other quality activities and improvement opportunities that can enhance business by supplying one common certification language for the industry. In addition, AVX’s Biddeford, ME, factory received AS9100, rev B and ISO 9001 certification, indicating that the facility operates under quality management system requirements for the design and manufacture of tantalum capacitors for the aerospace industry.
