ATMI Inc. (Danbury, CT), a supplier of materials and packaging to semiconductor manufacturers, reported that first-quarter revenues of $66.1 million were up 2% sequentially and up 18% year-over-year. Net income for the first quarter was $6.1 million, or $0.19 per diluted share, compared to net income of $0.19 per diluted share of first-quarter 2004, which included $0.07 per diluted share. Net income for fourth-quarter 2004 was $0.22 per diluted share, which included $0.09 per share.
The company also recorded gross margins of 51.7% in the first quarter, compared to 51.5% in the fourth quarter, and 48.6% in first-quarter 2004. For the current quarter, ATMI anticipates revenues between $65 million and $69 million, with earnings per share between $0.18 and $0.23.
