Astris Debuts Alkaline Fuel Cell-Powered Golf Cart

May 03, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

On May 8, 2001, Astris Energi Inc. (Canada) will be demonstrating what they claim is the world's first golf cart powered by an alkaline fuel cell. Gordon Emerson, CFO and director of the company, said that this initial demonstration will occur at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club in the Toronto suburb of Port Credit. The demonstration will be at a private showing for government officials, representatives of the general and technical media, the golfing community, and the investment industry.

Astris reports that it intends to form joint ventures with, or license its technology to, major manufacturers of small vehicles, residential energy systems and other potential users. The company is scheduled to introduce its fuel-cell-driven golf cart in the US in late May 2001.
