October 06, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Alpha Power Systems (APS, Minneapolis, MN) announced the shipment of its first unit of an order of five 1MW power modules to DTE Energy Technologies Inc. (Detroit, MI). The power modules, to be used for on-site electric power generation applications, contain a 1MW natural gas genset, with associated components and switchgear, packaged in a sound-attenuated enclosure.

APS President and CEO Stein Haukaas commented, "APS has successfully delivered several power modules in this size range and with this high a degree of complexity. Given the demand we're seeing in the marketplace, we believe that these types of products present a great and sustainable opportunity for APS."

DTE Energy Technologies Vice President and CMO Mark Fallek stated, "We are delighted at the workmanship APS demonstrated in constructing these units, making us proud to place our energy|now logo on them. We see a growing market for the 1MW sized units for companies looking to lower their energy costs and increase their power reliability, as well as for utilities requiring local circuit support."
