Apollo Receives Second Government Order

December 01, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Apollo Energy Systems Inc. (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) announced that it has received its second government order to build 1kW to 5kW Apollo alkaline fuel cells for testing. Florida’s Department of Community Affairs has received a financial assistance award from the US Department of Energy (Washington, DC) for the construction of an Apollo power plant for testing as an uninterrupted power source.

The Model 104-C Apollo Power Plant will be designed to maintain grid reliability by providing reliable, continuous power in case of a power failure. The heart of the power plant is an Apollo alkaline fuel cell and a lead cobalt battery. Apollo executives Robert Aronsson, a battery inventor with extensive battery manufacturing experience, and Karl Kordesch, a fuel cell inventor with a rich background in fuel cell development and production, will collaborate in the execution of both contracts.
