Advance Transformer Co. (Rosemont, IL), a leading ballast manufacturer, announced the establishment of a new electronic ballast manufacturing capability within a 91,000ft² facility located in Juarez, Mexico. The Juarez electronic ballast operation will also provide the company with the required capacity to support the US Department of Energy mandated conversion from magnetic to electronic models beginning in 2005.
In parallel with the addition of electronic capacity in Juarez, Advance will also be expanding its Monterrey, Mexico distribution center. The new 40,000ft² facility will serve as a full-service distribution operation providing technical support, inventory management and pull-through delivery, enabled by its Kanban and VMI capabilities. Establishment of the new electronic manufacturing facility and expansion of the new distribution center are scheduled to be completed by fall 2003.
