Active Power Appoints New VPs of Marketing, Business Development

Active Power Inc. has announced two additions to its executive team, Fran Kienle as Vice President of Marketing, and Lisa Brown as Vice President of Business Development.

Fran brings over 15 years of experience in successfully developing product and marketing strategies in the areas of data center infrastructure and Internet-based software services. She joins Active Power from Hoover's Online, a subsidiary of Dun & Bradstreet, where she was VP of Product Management. In this role, she was responsible for the P&L of the product portfolio and helped grow the business four times faster than the industry.

Fran developed and executed the product strategy and roadmap, plus managed all go-to-market activities including field support, market communications and public relations. Before D&B, Fran was with Broadwing Communications where she led the development of all next-generation application services comprised of state-of-the-art data center build-outs and managed services.

With Active Power, Fran will be responsible for leading all global marketing and product management initiatives.

Ms. Brown comes to Active Power from Broadwing Communications where she spent more than 14 years, most recently as VP Sales Operations; prior to that she was VP of Marketing for the $800M+ communications company. As VP Sales Operations, Lisa managed business and financial planning for the company's go-to-market groups focused on the large enterprise, service provider markets and alternate distribution channels.

As VP Marketing she led corporate strategy initiatives for the corporation and developed new collateral and web systems to enable all distribution channels, managed corporate communications, public relations and delivered upon strategic initiatives to dramatically build the Broadwing brand. During her tenure at Broadwing, Ms. Brown also held various other VP positions within the company, including VP Customer Operations, Enterprise Management Services and Provisioning.

Lisa will be leading Active Power's business development, sales operations, and business services initiatives. She will be responsible for developing and managing industry alliances, sales operations, and expanding the revenue generation capabilities of the company's service organization.
