300V, 18kWh Modular Expandable Li-Ion Energy Storage for Residential Market

May 22, 2019 by Scott McMahan

The BMZ Group is supplementing its product range of energy storage systems with the high-voltage system Hyperion. Hyperion is a 300V modular expandable system for the residential market. BMZ created the new storage system after extensive market survey and discussion with users, installers, and distributors.

"The modularity allows both a simple and reliable installation as well as a future expansion of the storage, if higher energy levels are needed," explained Dr. Stratis Tapanlis, responsible Product and Marketing Manager of the BMZ Group.

With a total capacity of up to 18kWh, the "Made in Germany" product consists of at least three and a maximum of six modules. The Hyperion uses high-quality lithium-ion battery cells, exclusively made for BMZ by renowned Japanese or South Korean manufacturers.

The safe construction and the robust design of Hyperion follows the proven BMZ quality of the previous storage families. Hyperion is manufactured in the Lower Franconian Karlstein am Main under strict quality specifications.

BMZ presented Hyperion at the leading European trade fair for energy storage systems, Smart Energy Europe in Munich.

According to BMZ, this emergency power storage reduces overall system costs and increases system efficiency. The high-voltage storage saves a hidden dc-dc converter.

The company says that Hyperion is in the first step compatible with the inverters Sunny Boy Storage from SMA and Plenticore Plus from Kostal, and it can be ordered now.
