Zetex Intros New Generation 5 Bipolar Transistors

March 02, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Zetex plc (Chadderton, Oldham) introduced its next generation of low-saturation voltage bipolar transistors. The new Generation 5 products offer a 30-percent improvement in VCE(sat) compared to previous generations. The Generation 5 devices meet the demands of a wide range of applications, including battery charging, motor control, MOSFET gate driving, dc-dc conversion and resonant converters.

The initial series of Generation 5 transistors cover a voltage range from 20 V to 140 V. Package types include SOT89, "large flag" SOT23, as well as SOT223. The range of SOT223 devices includes four NPN transistors (25 V to 100 V, Ic up to 7 A) and four PNP transistors (30 V to 140 V, Ic up to 5.5 A).

Pricing starts at $0.20 each for 10,000-piece quantities. Delivery is four to six weeks in production volumes.
