XPiQ Intros JAZ15/JAZ10 Family POL Converters

New Products Jul 15, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

XPiQ Inc. (Holliston, MA), a worldwide manufacturer and supplier of ac-dc and dc-dc power supply products, announced its new JAZ15 family of non-isolated, point-of-load converters, which can be programmed with external resistors to deliver tightly regulated outputs from 0.9 V to 3.36 V at up to 15 A. The converters accept input voltages from 3 Vdc to 5.5 Vdc, and offer 94% efficiency.

Offering fixed outputs from 1 V to 3.3 V, the JAZ10 family offers similar characteristics to the JAZ15, but with 10 A maximum output and up to 95% efficiency. In both product families, line and load regulation are ±0.2% and ±0.5%, respectively, and there is no minimum load requirement. Ripple and noise are 50 mV peak-to-peak at 20 MHz bandwidth, and the transient response time is less than 200 µs for a 25% step load change. The output voltage temperature coefficient is ±0.03%/°C maximum.

The converters have continuous short-circuit protection, and over-temperature protection is effective from +120 °C. They operate from -40 °C to +90 °C ambient, delivering full power at up to +60 °C with 200 LFM cooling for the JAZ15 and up to +70 °C with 100 LFM cooling for the JAZ10. The devices have safety approval to UL 60950. The converters come in single in-line pin (SIP) or surface-mount (SMT) packages. SMT versions are offered taped-and-reeled for automated board assembly.

The JAZ10 and JAZ15 converters are available now. Pricing for 1,000-plus units is $11.70 each for the JAZ10 SIP, $12.15 for the JAZ10 SMT, $13.85 for the JAZ15 SIP and $13.95 for the JAZ15 SMT.
