XP Power Introduces AC-DC Power Supply That Meets Medical & Industrial Safety Standards
XP Power announced the availability of its ECM140 series of compact open frame single-output ac-dc power supplies. Measuring 3 x 5 x 1.3" (76.2 x 127 x 33mm) and offering a high power density of 7.9W per cubic inch, the ECM140 requires just 10 CFM of forced air-cooling to achieve the full 148W output. The supply includes a 12V/0.5A fan output as standard, removing the need for an additional voltage source to power a fan.
To help compensate for any voltage drop at the output, remote sense is also standard. If convection cooled, the power supply achieves 120W output. Within the range, five models are available providing the popular outputs of 12, 15, 18, 24 or 48Vdc.
The series meets the electrical safety standards of both IEC 60601-1/EN 60601-1 for medical equipment and IEC 60950-1/EN 60950-1 for industrial and IT equipment. The series also meets EN 55022 specifications for Class B conducted emissions without the need of additional filtering components.
Using what is described as a highly efficient resonant topology, the units typically achieve 88% efficiency above 70W with a very flat efficiency curve. This approach also aids to improve the units EMI performance. In addition to the standard version, all models are also available with an options package. The A option includes a 5V standby supply output, power OK and dual polarity inhibit signals.
The ECM140 is priced at $77.22 each for OEM quantities and is available now from stock.
