VPT Introduces New DC-DC Converter Product Line For Military and Aerospace Programs

New Products Feb 18, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

VPT Inc. has introduced a new line of dc-dc converter and EMI filter families. Initially comprised of 15 modules, the company claims that its new VPT Series of converters and filters brings high performance and high reliability solutions at a lower cost to designers of aircraft, vehicles, and weapons systems.

"Some electronics systems designers have chosen to rely on commercial-grade parts in an attempt to reduce costs when using "commercial-off-the-shelf" (COTS) dc-dc converters. Because these commercial grade products are not specifically designed for the higher reliability markets, system designers have been hampered by less temperature tolerance, excess weight, and lower reliability in extreme situations." explained Michael Bosmann, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for VPT. "Today we’re introducing a whole new line of converters that solves the designer’s issues of satisfying the COTS directive for lower cost solutions with higher reliability components."

The company claims that the new VPT Series combines proven technology with new designs to satisfy today’s key requirements of military and avionics systems including size and weight, EMI requirements, and reliability through extreme environmental conditions. VPT understands the specific requirements of military and avionics markets, and continues to provide long-term production support, technical assistance, and the ability to accept low volumes for this VPT Series.

The VPT Series is immediately available and can be ordered directly from VPT or through one of its sales distributors. The converters start at $128.06 per unit and the filters start at $105.00 per unit in OEM quantities.
