April 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology (Malvern, PA) has released the Vitramon VJ0402, a new X5R dielectric multi-layer ceramic chip capacitor that offers a capacitance value of 0.1µF in an 0402-size package. The Vishay Vitramon VJ0402 is available in a dc-voltage rating of 10V and capacitance tolerances of ±5 percent, ±10 percent and ±20 percent. It is suitable for bypass, decoupling and filtering applications in miniature systems such as hearing aids, implantable devices, and cellular phones.

The VJ0402 features a maximum dissipation factor of four percent at 1Vrms and 1kHz. It has a temperature coefficient of capacitance of ±15 percent from -55 to 85 degrees C. The device measures 0.4" x 0.2", with a maximum thickness of 0.24".

Samples of the VJ0402 capacitor are available now. Production quantities are also currently available, with a lead time of 22 weeks for larger orders. The VJ0402 is available in both bulk and tape-and-reel packaging.
