UPS Batteries Guaranteed to 95 Degrees F

July 18, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

NorthStar Battery has enhanced its UPS range with an electrochemistry that delivers longer lifetime and exceptional performance at high rates of discharge, with fast recharge times. This upgrade has also enabled NorthStar to extend a full warranty for batteries operating in environments as high as 95 degrees F.

"NorthStar's premium batteries are designed to be ultra-high performance, providing a much longer lifespan than the competition," says David LeClaire, vice president of the company's Americas and UPS divisions. "These redesigned batteries exceed the new industry demand for two and five minute backup times, they're an ideal fit for data centers and other critical applications where even the slightest amount of downtime cannot be tolerated. In fact, six out of the nation's top ten collocation hosting data center providers rely on NorthStar batteries to protect their facilities.”

Along with the internal upgrade, NorthStar's UPS batteries have undergone an external makeover, sporting a new label and color case constructed of high modulus Polyphenylene Oxide (PPO) plastic, which boasts an operating temperature range of -40 to 150 degrees F. NorthStar UPS batteries deliver a shelf life of up to 24 months without additional charging, reducing the customer risk of having to scrap batteries.

The revamped UPS batteries underscore NorthStar's dedication to providing customers with the most reliable backup energy solutions possible, while simultaneously bolstering return-on-investment by reducing both start-up and operating costs, says LeClaire.

"Our UPS batteries have higher temperature capabilities that allow data centers to increase operating temperatures while reducing electricity costs by more than 40 percent," he says. "This lessens the impact on the environment, as well as the total cost of operation, with less downtime, lower battery replacement and fewer maintenance visits."

Since NorthStar's inception in 2000, the company has exclusively manufactured its batteries in the USA using Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology. NorthStar's UPS battery range is available in a variety of 12V configurations, including 310, 450 and 540 Watts-per-cell top terminal, as well as 170, 245, 365, 425, 450, 650 and 730 Watts-per-cell front terminal.
