Universal Battery Controller and UPS System

Traco Power has launched its new universal battery management modules for powering fail-safe industrial systems with uninterruptable dc voltage. They are available as standalone modules (TSP-BCMU360) which can be connected to any 24Vdc or 48Vdc power source or integrated to a compact 24-Vdc power supply (TSPC 240-124UPS). The units are designed to operate with any external 12Vdc lead-acid batteries. A step up converter is used to maintain the output voltage level in power fail mode. Internal decoupling diodes allow operation of two independent voltage sources (redundant inputs) in order to increase the reliability of the output.

The TSPC 240-124UPS is a 240-Watt 24-Vdc power supply with integrated battery management module. This power supply provides an integrated professional battery management system to charge and monitor an external lead-acid battery. The result is a complete DC-UPS system in a compact housing with no additional parts needed. The external connected 12 V battery will be charged and held in charged mode by the power supply. In the event of a mains power failure the battery will supply the output power until the battery is discharged. As a consequence, the output voltage of the system is equivalent to the battery voltage. To avoid overcharging the battery, an external temperature sensor adjusts the battery voltage automatically to the required end of charge voltage. This can extend the battery life. The battery is protected against deep discharge. Mains power and battery status are monitored regularly and failures indicated by corresponding LED’s and alarm outputs. The module also provides an external On/Off input to switch-off both, power supply and battery.

The TSP-BCMU360 is a 360-Watt universal battery controller module for any 24Vdc and 48Vdc source (no signal link required). This module provides a professional battery management system to charge and monitor an external 12V lead-acid battery. Together with a power supply of the TSP series or any other stabilized 24-Vdc or 48- Vdc power supply a perfect DC-UPS system can be configured. The connected battery will be charged and held in charged mode by the power supply. In the event of a mains power failure the battery will supply the output power until the battery is discharged.
