August 06, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Ultralife Batteries Inc. (Newark, NY) announced the expansion of its Ultralife Polymer brand of rechargeable batteries to a total of 14 different battery outlines in a range of thicknesses. Ultralife reports that the company is able to prototype in three to five weeks and enter volume manufacturing in 8 to 12 weeks for customized polymer batteries.

The 14 standard Ultralife Polymer rechargeable battery outlines are designed to meet the needs of a range of applications. Batteries in each outline can range in thickness from less than 1mm to 6mm thick in 0.5mm increments, with weights as low as 1.5g and capacities ranging from 30mAh to 3,800mAh. Additional outlines will be continuously added to the standard product offering.

"This product line extension and our fast-track, flexible manufacturing systems gives Ultralife customers an edge in new-product development," said John Kavazanjian, president and CEO of the company. "By giving customers the broadest polymer line available, we are reducing their time to market with new products, enabling them to enter markets ahead of the competition and capture market share."
