Tyco Electronics Debuts JRW Series DC/DC Converters

December 11, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Tyco Electronics Power Systems (Harrisburg, PA) announced a 70A dc/dc converter series in an industry-standard, half-brick, single-board package. The JRW Series delivers optimum efficiency at high-current/low-voltage outputs required by next-generation semiconductors used in wireless, access and optical network equipment without the need for heatsinking.

The JRW Series can achieve ultra-high efficiencies of 91 percent at 3.3V output. The converters operate with input voltages ranging from 36Vdc to 75Vdc, delivering output voltages from 12V down to sub-1.0V. In addition, the modules may be placed in parallel to take advantage of a load-sharing feature (parallel operation), delivering even greater output scalability. Cost and space savings can be achieved as the industry-standard, half-brick footprint (61mm x 57.9mm) is made with a low-profile height of only 9.5mm.

"Tyco Electronics Power Systems continues to set the standard for delivering superior-performance dc/dc converters in industry-standard sized packages. We are always seeking to achieve superior efficiency and broader feature sets to allow our OEM customers to deliver products offering higher performance and greater reliability,” said Sabi Varma, global director of marketing, Tyco Electronics Power Systems.

The JRW Series is available in 12V, 5V, 3.3V, 2.5V, 2.0V, 1.8V, 1.5V, 1.2V and 1.0V output-voltage models, priced at $117 for 1,000 units, and $103 for 5,000-unit quantities. Samples are available now.
