SynQor Introduces New 3.3V/30A Eighth Brick DC/DC Converter

May 30, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

SynQor Corp. announced the release of the PQ60033ETL30, a 3.3V output dc/dc converter that offers high levels of output power even in the harshest of environments. The device is targeted at demanding applications that require the highest levels of power densities within in the Telecom/Datacom field.

The PQ60033ETL30 is offered in the industry standard Eighth Brick package (0.9" x 2.3" x 0.32"), and delivers a maximum current of 30A at an efficiency level of 90%. The strong performance is due to the topology, component choice and PCB technology. The ETL is intended to provide significantly more usable power than comparable products on the market. As an example, the PQ60033ETL30 can provide up to 28.5A of output current at 70°C and 200LFM (1m/s) of airflow, at least 15-20% more than its nearest rivals.

The 35-75Vin PQ60033ETL30 is capable of withstanding transients on the input to 100V for 100ms, and has a basic isolation level from input to output of 2250Vdc. Control and protection features include remote sense, a wide output voltage trim range of -20% to +10%, input under-voltage lockout, output OVP, current limit, short circuit protection, and thermal shutdown. Operating temperature range is -40 to +100°C. MTBF of the device is 3Mhrs in accordance with Telcordia SR-332 calculations at 40°C and 80% load.

Sample and production quantities are available immediately with a stock to 8-week lead-time. The modules are priced at $58.00 in OEM quantities.
